March 30 Taiwan TripI'm planning on hitting Taiwan this year. Going to Taipei, Hsinchu, and Jade Mt. I'm just going to be jotting somethings down on here and then look them up while I'm there. I will see if I can get to Nigger King and the Fuck Salon and a day market and a night market. If anyone would like to add places to go and things to do please add stuff in the comment section. June 11 Have IPod Will TravelI'm a little slow with techonology it's true, but hearing about iPod and mp3 tours does sound like a very interesting and cheaper way of choosing what to see and do in an unfamiliar land. Now, I just need the money...
I'd like to travel with someone, but who could jump at a moments notice? And of those who would want to go with me? My friends are going off to different countries the most recent is Greece. I hate my boss...Do I want a different job...Or should I just quit and travel? Most of my fave rock stars never reached the ripe old age of 32. I could study something for four years and go in debt and get something as useful as semephore. Damn!! So lost...Should learn Chinese maybe and do a little traveling...Must Decide Now!!! November 28 Strip Mall RestaurantI went out walking yesterday I was planning on walking around the lake and taking pictures, but it was too cold so I ventured into a restaurant near the apt. The signs on the windows were old the ink had disappeared in some spots and had slid in others. It looked like a little English, Chinese and strange doodles. The owner/cook was a Chinese guy who was asking me a little bit about the value system of people. You know the old honour thy mother and thy father bit. The whole respecting people the pleasantries and how they're vanishing. He said people in China are thinking of burning books that try to instill these values in schools.
How do you decide what needs to be taught, how to teach it and to make sure it doesn't force kids into thinking that what the teacher says is simply one point of view and not the only version allowed?
He went on to tell me how some textbooks are basically propaganda, and some textbooks used in Canada are made for the US and don't have anything about Canada in them. I met a native girl recently who said the same thing, and Buffy St. Marie said the same thing on CBC radio, and in the book "You Are Being Lied To" these things seem to be repeating. Memorizing facts is supposedly called learning these days, not understanding or interpretting just dull memorizing.
I wonder if TV shows or program directors try to create shows that show honour and respect. Hugs and kisses and just holding hands maybe these signs of affection should be on TV shows, or maybe I just like the old East Indian stuff? I know the TV show War Of The Worlds sucked, but at least it tried to have a sort of message about how much control people could have in their own lives, and different ways to live ones life. Good, evil, demonstrator, friend, teacher, etc.
If we loose our honour and our values what are we left with? Do we seriously need these to have a more complete life? A wise man once said, "When a student is ready to learn a teacher shall appear." I originally thought that old Haitian guy met a real person would teach once a student started asking people to help him, now I feel it's more about a student getting as much information from as many sources possible to educate himself or herself.
In conclusion....My launderies done. Sweep my car for me will ya? October 30 Mr. Patterson Leaves his apt.Well, my friend isn't really Mr. Patterson but I believe that's the name on his suite. He's leaving his entertaining apartment building. There's always something going on and it's never something he's into. The woman above him is a Tammy Faye make up....Artist? His negihbor is a woman who likes to snoop in his clothes in the laundery room when he isn't around. Womans' underwear appeared on the outside of his window. Dirty. And possibly his neighbors. He's cleaning the apt. making it look cleaner than when he moved in.
The new place he's going has more security and possibly more sound-proofing, less cigarette smoke, and nothing from the seventies to speak of. Good luck Mr. Patterson.!
Another friend of mine used to live in a cheap apt like this. I always laughed at the condition of these apts. Not at the fact that my friends live in such disgusting conditions, just that such conditions should simply not exist. I talked to one landlord and he said it's against the law to have a bathroom and kitchen appliances outside of your suite. So I guess the city doesn't police apts. or the really old ones. Mr. Patterson lived in a place that was a little better than this, but still it isn't set up for university students. It's set up for the poorest of society, and those that don't wish to improve themselves. And the apt just across the street is set up for people who work for the gov't. Kind of ironic knowing you're trying to help the people directly accross the street from where you live.
Perhaps, I'll head back to this and throw a bit into my Community Service story. I wish I knew how to motivate myself. And how to morivate the people at the bottom of society. Maybe give them their own "Cavendish House." When I say "Cavendish House," I don't mean the real Cavendish House I mean the one that was supposed to be made. The one that was supposed to be a communist idea. A place where everyone worked four to ten hours a day on various farm chores and everyone existed independently from socitey. If you only work four hours a day then you have time to do other things that will hopefully bring you into society. Like get an education and a decent job., so somebody else can take over your job. Beer me!! It's 9:30am, Oh man! |
